Alabama Bids Farewell to Fans

One of country music’s most successful bands is bidding its fans adieu. After more than two decades at the top of the charts, Alabama is embarking on a final “American Farewell Tour.” The tour will consist of at least 40 cities and make a stop in Austin on June 25. In addition to celebrating Alabama’s storied career, the tour marks the release of the band’s 24th album with RCA.

In 1980 RCA-recording group Alabama first began its journey on what would be a 24-year career, resulting in 21 gold, platinum and multi-platinum albums. During a time when country music was dominated by solo artists Alabama was rocking both country and pop charts. In over two decades of performing, the group has logged 42 number one singles and sold over 65 million records. As one of the 20 best-selling acts of all time, Alabama has even sold more albums than Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan. After more than 20 years of performing together, band members Jeff Cook, Teddy Gentry, Mark Herndon and Randy Owen are saying “farewell.”

Alabama’s many accolades include receiving over 150 industry awards including eight country music “Entertainer of the Year” honors, two Grammys, two People’s Choice Awards and their very own star on the “Hollywood Walk of Fame.” In addition to accruing a record-breaking 23rd American Music Award, they were named the “Artist of the Decade” by the Academy of Country Music and “Country Group of the Century” by the Recording Industry Association of America.

On Friday, June 25 at 8PM Alabama will make a tour stop in Austin to say goodbye after 24 long years of country hits. The Frank Erwin Center would like to help you bid these country legends farewell in style by inviting you and your friends to an exclusive VIP dinner before the concert.
