Gibson-Baldwin Grand Slam Jam Tennis Shootout

Friday, April 30 - 7pm

Grand Slam Jam Tennis Shootout “Set” to Return to Austin

Tennis’ premier exhibition event, the Gibson-Baldwin Grand Slam Jam Tennis Shootout, is returning to Austin Friday, April 30 for an annual who’s who of tennis and music. In a jam-packed gala, the Grand Slam Jam will combine world-class competitive tennis exhibitions and Austin-worthy musical performances.

Scheduled to compete at this year’s jam are tennis legend Martina Navratilova and event founder Jim Courier with other special guests to be announced. Featured athlete Navratilova boasts a seven-time world ranking of No. 1 and holds the record for Wimbledon singles titles.

Born in Czechoslovakia, Navratilova turned pro at the tender age of sixteen. In 1975, she defected to the United States and since the Open era began in 1968, no player – male or female – has won more tournaments than Navratilova. She is also the first female athlete to earn more than a million dollars a year.

“This is a truly exceptional year for us,” said Tim Stallard, president and events producer of ProLink Sports and Entertainment. “Anytime world-class tennis champions like Navratilova and Courier play on a single court, fans are guaranteed to see something special.”

Past exhibitions have included Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, retired tennis great, Pete Samprass, musical talents Lars Ulrich (Metallica) and Mike Mills (REM) and sports stars Lance Armstrong (four-time Tour de France champion) and Paul O'Neill (New York Yankees).
