Arena Football Rumbles into Austin

Q: What’s black and blue and runs you over? A: The Arena Football League’s newest franchise, the Austin Wranglers. The Wranglers host their inaugural home opener on February 22 at the Frank Erwin Center.

We are ready to bring the Austin Wranglers to life in February of 2004,” said General Partner Greg Feste. “Arena football is a perfect fit for Austin. We are thrilled to further enhance the sports and entertainment industry in our community.”

Skip Foster, the second most winning coach in "arenafootball2” league history, takes the reins as the Wranglers’ first head coach. Foster is the only coach to go undefeated in home games for three consecutive seasons. Before joining the Wranglers, Foster served as the head coach for the Tulsa Talons.

Rounding out the Wrangler line-up are two University of Texas standouts: Aaron Humphrey and Mike Jones. Humphrey is second on the Longhorns’ all-time tackles list and Jones ranks ninth on UT’s list of all-time receptions by a tight end.
