Lots of Love at the Erwin Center

I’ve always thought of February as the calm before the storm. The month preceding March Madness, the month following holiday madness, February is a good month for stopping and smelling the roses…that is, if your significant other remembers to buy them for you. We humble servants of entertainment at the Erwin Center are happily showering Austin with family shows, sporting events and live music in February and beyond.

If you haven’t yet bought your tickets to the Harlem Globetrotters and Sesame Street Live, it’s not too late! Great seats are still available to these one-of-a-kind performances. Catch the high-flying humor of the basket-balling Harlem Globetrotters and the wholesome goodness of Sesame Street Live at the Erwin Center this February.

Also making a return appearance is the Gibson-Baldwin Grand Slam Jam Tennis Shootout. Scheduled for April 30, this year’s jam will feature Martina Navratilova and event founder, Jim Courier. Stay tuned for more athletes and musicians to be announced. Don’t miss this year’s racquet rock-fest at the Erwin Center. Tickets are on sale now!

And for all you theater buffs, Tyler Perry is once again showcasing his many talents in “Madea’s Class Reunion,” a hilarious musical gospel. One of the most highly touted tours on the Urban Theater circuit, “Madea” combines elements of humor and forgiveness in this powerful show coming to the Erwin Center this March. Finally, come pay homage to the University of Texas’ two nationally ranked basketball programs. Both the men’s and women’s teams still have plenty of season left and are in great positions to make a run for the national championship. Even more sport for those of you who can’t get enough football is the inaugural season of the Austin Wranglers. The newest addition to the Arena Football League is bringing a hard-hitting, fast-paced style of football to the Erwin Center. Tickets for the February 22 home opener are still available.

All in all, looks like the perfect month for hugs and kisses and Erwin Center outings. Have a happy February and take this time to prepare your hearts and homes for the ensuing frenzy known as March Madness.
