Dolly Parton
Thursday, December 2

From Nashville To Hollywood To Dollywood

For four decades, Dolly Parton has entertained audiences with her distinctive sound and even more distinctive stage presence. The "Hello, I’m Dolly" tour is her largest tour in ten years and showcases the breadth of Parton’s career. The set list includes classic Dolly hits, “Islands In the Stream” and “Jolene” as well as her newer recordings, “The Grass is Blue” and “Hello, God.” Dolly remarked on the upcoming tour, “The show itself has every color of me in it, from gospel to bluegrass to country to the bigger production numbers, and to the pop hits I’ve been fortunate enough to do through the years. I think there will be something for everybody.”

During her prolific career, Parton has released 71 original albums and holds the record for the most top ten country albums with 40. In 1999, Dolly was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame along with legends Conway Twitty and Johnny Bond and this year the U.S. Library of Congress presented her with the Living Legend Award.

After conquering the music world, Parton shifted her sights to acting in 1980 with the comedy, 9 to 5, for which she received an Academy Award Nomination for Best Original Song. She followed with the musical hit, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, in 1982 and found success again in 1989’s Steel Magnolias. Since the 80’s, Parton has appeared in a variety of films and TV movies.
Dolly’s celebrity status spans far beyond the realm of country music and film. In addition to her musical and theatrical successes, Parton’s business ventures Sanddollar Productions and Dollywood entertain millions each year. An indication of Dolly’s status as an international icon came in 1996 when the world’s most famous sheep, Dolly, was named in her honor.

Opening for Parton are the bluegrass craftsmen, The Grascals. The band may be new on the music scene, but its members have roots in the industry reaching back more than two decades. The six-man group releases their debut album this February.
