Arts Center

The holiday season is breaking out all over
at the University of Texas Performing Arts Center. Look who’s
coming…
Cantus Holiday Concert (December 5)
What is Cantus? One of the freshest, finest vocal ensembles
in America, nine young men who sing with one beautifully variegated
voice so powerful NO instruments are needed. Cantus started
out as a talented group of college chums getting together to “jam” on
Saturdays. They have evolved into one of the hottest acappella
choral company’s in the country. Enjoy holiday classics,
hymns and carols from around the world as Cantus leads you on
a musical journey that will touch your holiday spirit on Sunday,
December 5 in Hogg Memorial Auditorium.
Gerre & Judith Hancock (December 17)
The Archbishop of Canterbury gives them two thumbs up! In November,
the archbishop awarded Dr. Gerre Hancock the Cross of St. Augustine
for outstanding service to the church. Experience the sacred
sounds of Austin’s own master organists Gerre & Judith
Hancock as they usher in the holidays with a joyous celebration
featuring an impressive repertoire and the famous Bates Recital
Hall tracker organ, one of the largest pipe organs in the country.
The Gerre & Judith Hancock Holiday Concert will bring you
to your feet on Friday, December 17 in Bates Recital Hall.

Jim
Brickman & Friends (December 23)
Talk about HOT! Jim Brickman is America’s newest piano
sensation. With a career that spans ten albums, four certified
gold, one platinum, a string of sold out concerts and sales
in the millions upon millions, he has garnered an intensely
loyal following and he’s coming to Austin, just in time
for the holidays, with friends. Enjoy a delightful evening of
music, songs and laughter with Jim and his special guests Anne
Cochran, Tracy Silverman, Kristy Starling and Jeff Timmons on
Thursday, December 23 in Bass Concert Hall. It’s a holiday
concert for the whole family!
Neville Brothers & Angelique
Kidjo (January 27)
Mark it on you calendar for 2005! Hot on the heels of releasing
their first album in five years, Walkn’ in the Shadow
of Life, the Neville Brothers (and sons) bring their unmistakable
sound to Austin. Art, Aaron, Chares and Cyril have each enjoyed
successful solo careers but they’re at their best when
they’re together. And Angelique Kidjo is with them. She
is one of the most electrifying performers in the international
pop world today. Her music is a cross between the West African
traditions of her childhood and elements of American R & B,
Funk and Jazz. The Neville Brothers and Angelique Kidjo on Thursday,
January 27 in Bass Concert Hall.

Tickets can be purchased on-line at www.utpac.org, by phone
