Frank
Erwin Center's Fahrenheit is Just Right
A collective ‘Brrrrr!’ can be heard in Central
Texas as wintertime descends upon us. But we have plenty of
events planned to help keep you warm here inside the Frank Erwin
Center when the temperatures outside drop into the brutal 50’s.
Who can resist the warm heart and tremendous singing/songwriting
talent of Dolly Parton? Before contemporary country emerged
in the early 90’s, Dolly was already a respected veteran
of country music, earning her a place in the Country Music Hall
of Fame in 1999. After the pint-sized powerhouse conquered the
country music scene along with fellow female country pioneers
Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette, she made a successful venture
into the pop world before she came back around again, full circle
to the bluegrass music she heard growing up in Tennessee. Her
current tour “Hello, I’m Dolly” includes songs
from her expansive repertoire of country, pop and bluegrass,
which she will be bringing to the Erwin Center December 2nd.
If it’s snowflakes and sledding you long for during the
holiday season, come join us and get into the spirit with the
Trans-Siberian Orchestra on December 11th. The snow is fake,
but their musical talent and stage production is the real thing.
A combination of musical genres, a laser-light show and a program
of rock and holiday songs, there is something for rock fans
and families alike.
Things will definitely be heating up at the Erwin Center as
the UT Women’s and Men’s basketball teams hustle
up and down our courts. Check out their schedules on our website
(uterwincenter.com) and get yourself some tickets while you’re
at it. It’s winter now, so take your seat in our stands,
enjoy the cozy camaraderie around the court and marvel at the
breakneck speed, precision and agility of these accomplished
athletes. With your coat on and pennant in hand, you can almost
feel it snowing outside.
We at the Erwin Center already have plans to cure whatever post-holiday
blues your children may be experiencing after three months of
candy, presents and visits from out-of-town relatives. Who better
to pick their spirits back up than the Harlem Globetrotters
or the adorable characters of Sesame Street? Tickets to the
Globetrotters are already on sale and they’ll be here
February 10th. Tickets to Sesame Street Live will go on sale
to the general public next month for their production here February
17th – 20th. We hope to see you soon and since the next
Applause won’t be out till January, we’ll take the
time now to wish you a wonderful holiday season. |
