Boston Invades Corporate America In
the late 70s, Boston was one of the top arena-rock bands. Created
in the 12-track basement studio of Tom Schloz, Boston signed their
first contract in 1976 with Epic. Their debut album shot straight
to the top of the charts with three hit singles, “More Than
a Feeling,” “Long Time,” and “Peace of
Mind.”
Boston took the next two years to create their next number one
album, Don’t Look Back. The album went platinum by August
of 1978 and soon went multi-platinum. The 1980s weren’t
so kind to Boston; the next album would take eight years to produce.
Scholz was also involved in a several year court battle with former
band mate Barry Goudreau. By 1994, Scholz would be the only original
band member in Boston.
In the summer 2002, Boston released a single available only through
the Internet. The newly released single generated a 70s-style
buzz and Corporate America was released in the fall. The band’s
latest tour kicked off in June to promote their new album which
includes a stop in Austin.
